Active Football Friday In Miami-Dade and Broward Counties

We have now arrived at the final few weeks of the 2025 high school football season.

Usually, this time of year watches the local teams go through the motions, it is far from it as Friday’s competitive schedule will show you with playoff positions and district titles up for grabs in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

There are six interesting games that fans will want to check out on this Friday – with something at stake in each one of them.

No. 1 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (7-1) at No. 14 Plantation American Heritage (4-4), 7. The six-time defending state champion Raiders have revenge on their mind after losing at home to the Patriots last season. On the other side of the ball, the Patriots are faced with a losing regular season for the first time in a long, long time.

If it weren’t for a loss on the road last week against Lakeland Lake Gibson, this would be a game that would have matched the unbeatens. But still, there is plenty surrounding this contest that will showcase two programs that are on their way to the state playoffs in a few weeks.

No. 3 Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (6-1) at No. 8 Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (6-2), 7. Usually the national powerhouse Lions cruise into the state playoffs with a few easier games, but that’s not the case here. This week, it’s the top 2A team in south Florida – with a red-hot Chiefs’ squad. Next week, it’s No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas on the road. The Lions beat both teams last year – and each have a little payback on their collective minds.

10/30 - Miramar

No. 15 Miami Norland (4-5) at No. 16 Plantation (5-3), PAL, 7. To say that this has been an unusual season for the Vikings would be an understatement – with a coaching change this past week as the latest distraction. The Colonels are coming off some big wins and can put themselves at the top of the crazy district race. Either way, for the second straight year, all four teams will qualify for the state playoffs – and all four teams can be dangerous!

10/30 - @South Plantation

No. 10 Miami True North Classical Academy (5-2) at No. 20 Miami Christopher Columbus (3-6), 6. This is another game that really will take center stage because of all the story lines that surround this matchup. First of all, this is the first losing season for the 7A state power Explorers, who didn’t win the district title. But despite all the negatives is that they are still in the state playoffs and are really dangerous. While Columbus is easily the most known program of these two, the 1A Titans have been building the past five plus years and have won five straight and are loaded with prospects that believe they are on a path to pulling some major surprises in the state playoffs.
