When it comes to Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, there are so many prospects, there are gifted football players who are being overlooked.
In an area that produced the Heisman Trophy winner last season and is home to two of the favorites to win it again this season, there are so many elite prospects, who are making an impact in 2026, that are not getting the recognition they deserve.
While many athletes are pushed and promoted by local media and recruiting services, there are those who are not getting the recognition that they deserve, and that comes from getting out and watching these young men do their thing.
From camps to combines and numerous off season events that provide a forum for these student/athletes to do their things, the months away from the season are actually more productive for these prospects.
For decades and decades, we have visited teams, players and events that are not spotlight gatherings where services award stars for what they accomplish in shorts and T-shirts.
Every week we provide that canvas for these football players to get their recognition.
Today, once again, we bring you five players that deserve the spotlight and who are getting it done without a lot of fanfare.
2028 – Alexander Beltran, Edge, 6’4, 215, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. While many are just starting to find out about this quality talent, he’s been on the radar for over a year – and with a strong off season – he thrust himself into a rather large spotlight. This is definitely a prospect that will continue to blow up as he gets bigger and stronger. Will be one of the nation’s top edge prospects because of his skill, athletic ability and leadership on the field. Has been the Lions’ most dependable defensive playmaker this season and will only get better in the coming weeks. He thrives on making the big play.

2027 – Trey Hollandsworth. LB/Nickel, 5’10, 185, Fort Lauderdale Westminster Academy. When it comes to playing for smaller schools, you already know that you will have the opportunity to make an impact on both sides of the ball – as well as being vital on special teams. Here is someone we have been watching since he played at Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian, and he has only gotten better as an all-around football talent. While he runs the ballon offense, his ability to make tackles on the defensive side of the ball has gained him plenty of recognition. Heading into this week, he is among the top tacklers in Florida with 132 total tackles and 122 solos, which is by far the best in the Sunshine State.

2027 – Nixon Kalish, QB, 6’4, 190, South Plantation. There is no getting around the fact that this impressive talent has continued to raise the bar in his game. Has turned into a one-man offensive show with his talent and decision making. After a junior season in which he threw for 2,572 yards and 20 touchdowns, he has come back this season – his final at the high school level – and has 1,400 yards passing, 600 yards on the ground and 17 total touchdowns. In addition to what he’s getting done on the football field, this versatile student/athlete is also making a splash in the classroom – with a 4.5 GPA.

2029 – Jeramiah Lee, QB, 6’3, 195, Miami Killian. While these recruiting “gurus” yell out all these prospects from hearing about them or seeing them on film, the only way to truly evaluate and appreciate a prospect is to go and watch them live and see what they bring to the table. You can talk about all the underclass quarterbacks in south Florida who are surrounded by elite players, but this is player we have watched the past two years, and if you see him perform in a game, you will be blown away at everything he does and brings to the table. In a 7-2 season, he has thrown for 2,500 yards and 22 scores, uses his footwork and athleticism to get the job done. There are already programs that are watching his every move and will continue to follow him in the off season!

2028 – Colton Smith, Athlete, 6’0, 180, Miami Ransom Everglades. Looking for perhaps the most well rounded prospect in south Florida – and maybe the entire state? This is a difference maker, who plays receiver, defensive back, kick and punt returner and takes over a game by himself. Made his camp debut nearly two years ago in his freshman season at Prep Redzone Florida and has not stopped since. Talk to anyone who has played against him and all will tell you that this is a football talent that is skilled, fast and very smart. He’s like having another coach on the field. While his talent is getting him looks by colleges – at every level – his work in the classroom (3.9 GPA - 1300 SAT) is also opening doors with one year left. This coming off season will be huge for his future!
