Through the many years he was head football coach at Plantation High School, Frank Hepler guided the Colonels to many district title and regional appearances.

This evening while Plantation (0-0, 3-2) will play one of its biggest games of the season against defending 4A state champion and district champion Plantation American Heritage (0-0, 1-3), the school will give back to Hepler, a Plantation alum, at 7:00 at a field (PAL) that he has guided this program to many big games. He will receive his “Red Coat” during the Hall of Fame induction.

In Hepler’s 14 plus years (1991-2005) at Plantation, he led his teams to 135 wins, 10 district championships and produced many elite players – including current head coach Darrell Strong. Among others include Al Blades, H.B. Blades, current Cocoa head football coach Ryan Schneider, current University of Miami receivers coach Kevin Beard and so many others.

In addition to coaching at Plantation, Hepler also coached in Georgia as well as at Davie Nova and Fort Myers Riverdale High Schools.

PATRIOTS HAVE HAD A TOUGH START

When you play one of the most challenging schedule in the state, you take your chances – and while head coach Mike Smith and his Patriots are 1-3, they have played some of the elite programs in the state and nation.

They come into tonight’s meeting with a chance to turn things around and make a push toward defending their state title in December – with Southwest Ranches Archbishop McCarthy and Miami Norland coming up in district play.
