While it has been tough for many athletes in south Florida during this pandemic, grabbing the attention of college coaches has been a major chore.
As the spring and summer are usually the time when athletes impress college coaches with their skills, this year has been one crazy mess – and those trips to college campuses and the many team 7-on-7 events have not been a part of this major quarantine.
As we have continue to preach, the last time that college coaches have watched these athletes perform live was back in late November, early December. That is nearly nine months ago – and as we fully understand, the growth and maturity, especially for young athletes, can change so much.
With the upcoming season still up in the air, these football prospects are going to need every available opportunity to shine.
SILSBY PROFILE
PLAYER: Hugo Silsby
POSITION: S
SCHOOL: Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons
CLASS: 2021
HEIGHT: 5-11
WEIGHT: 175
SCOUTING: Following in the footsteps of his father, who was also a standout for the Chiefs back in the day, here is a very talented and experienced secondary performer who has been around this game all of his young life.
His ability and passion for the game coupled with his knack of picking things up quickly, has provided this talented performer an opportunity to watch his stock rise.
Before the pandemic took hold, he played on a competitive 7-on-7 team during January and much of February. He has also kept in shape and worked hard on his own to get ready for his final year at the high school level.
Talk to the coaches at Cardinal Gibbons and all will tell you that this is the kind of player you need in your program. Someone who not only understands the game, but competes at a high level.
At a position that is stacked in Miami-Dade and Broward County once again in 2020, here is someone to keep your eye on as he continues to mature and make a major statement for a team that will be among the best in Florida this coming season.
