Ten More Thursday Games Highlight GMAC Week

As we head toward the second day of the 2023 Greater Miami Athletic Conference Week, two doubleheaders will take the spotlight.

As there are 10 games that will share the spotlight. Tropical Park and Traz Powell Stadium will be the place to be for over seven hours of football, highlighting GMAC programs as the conference continues to use this week to promote its many schools.

TROPICAL PARK TODAY

Coral Gables (4M, 4-3) vs. Miami Northwestern (2M, 2-6), 3:30. Obviously this has not been the year that the Bulls and first year head coach Michaelee Harris had planned for, but with a good showing and finishing off the season will be something to build on.

For the Cavaliers, a winning season was the objective when the year started. A great showing down the homestretch will also give head coach Frank Welsh and his team something to build on as well in 2024.

Miami Dr. Krop (3M, 4-3) vs. No. 8 Miami Palmetto (4M, 6-1), 7:30. When head coach Tom Caporale and the Lightning dropped the district title game a few weeks back, the objective was to finish off the season and get the seniors some final looks and prepare the juniors for the 2024 season.

The Panthers have bigger fish to fry as head coach Mike Manasco and his team will use this week as a springboard to make a run at a 4M state title. They are improving every week.

TRAZ POWELL STADIUM DOUBLE DIP

North Miami Beach (2M, 2-6) vs. Southwest Miami (3M. 1-7), 3:30. There is no getting around to the fact that these two teams have not achieved what they set out to do at the start of the year. Even with a tough schedule, veteran head coach Jeff Bertani and his Chargers were not satisfied, competing in one of the most talented districts in the state.

For head coach Taj Marshall and the Eagles, the objective is to develop and build a program that continues to make strides in playing competitive football.

No. 17 Miami Southridge (3M, 6-2) vs. No. 4 Miami Central (2M, 3-3),7:30. Nobody has to tell you the frustration the head coach Jube Joseph and the Rockets have felt this season. The four-time defending state champions have lost three times – two to the No. 1 and No. 3 programs in the nation, and a district title to unbeaten Miami Norland by a total of 10 points. This is still a team you must fear, and for good reason.

For head coach Pierre Senatus and his Spartans, things had been moving along until the district title game last week at Homestead – where the wheels fell off.

In addition to those games, here is the full schedule for Week 9 in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties:
