The reality of Friday night’s (7:00) Tri-County Championship 8A semifinal game is that it could be the best game in the state.
You heard that right. While the four best 8A programs will be playing for the right to meet next week at Doak Campbell Stadium this week, Deerfield Beach and Western will be hooking up in a game that could have easily produced an 8A finalist – or champion.
In between the Covid cases popping up throughout the Sunshine State, football is definitely being played.
Maybe not in ideal circumstances, but it is back – in many form here in south Florida.
For Miami Palmetto, being on the road for the third consecutive week is not getting old as long as the Panthers continue to win.
Say what you want about the teams playing in the inaugural Tri-County Championships, but what ever you say, it had better include competition and getting additional game film.
We don’t have to continue to re-hash how the FHSAA and its board members completely excluded south Florida from the playoff picture – starting two months before Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach were ready.
