While the return of the Florida-Georgia High School All-Star Football Game didn’t end well for Team Florida, the experience of playing in the event was indeed very special.
Even though Team Georgia won the game, 26-10, with two late interception returns for scores, the four days spent by both teams certainly outweighed the outcome.
When Team Florida and Team Georgia kick it off on Sunday at Traz Powell Stadium, a “tradition” will be rekindled between the two border states.
Because there were no other all-star games back in the 1980’s and much of the 90’s, playing in this game – usually held in the early summer – was just about everything to these high school seniors.

The game, which is rekindling the tradition that this matchup once held in Orlando, Atlanta, Daytona Beach among other places, is getting things started in this ‘border war” with a four-day MLK Weekend event. Sunday’s game will be at the legendary “Mecca” – Traz Powell Stadium.
